Facebook's released the latest version of their Topics to Watch report, this time looking at the trends which saw significant increases in September.
Facebook launched their Topics to Watch Reports in April this year in order to highlight topics that are gaining momentum across The Social Network. Facebook's research team identifies these based on a combination of mention volume, mention velocity and other related engagement metrics - the idea being that they can help highlight emerging trends before they become larger movements, enabling marketers to start incorporating them into their strategies as they rise, rather than missing the boat and seeming out of touch by tagging on too late.
Obviously, not every trend is going to be relevant to your business - maybe none of them are - but if there is one that relates, it's worth taking note of and considering how you might be able to use it to advantage.
And Facebook's researchers are pretty good at picking out what's relevant - up to 80% of the topics they've identified in this way have gone on to become more prominent trends.
