Pinterest has become a key hub for food and recipe-related content - in fact, food is Pinterest's most popular category, with over 15 billion Pins relating to food posted to the site. Given the culinary focus, Pinterest has also become a key marketing platform for those in the food industry - but wouldn't it be great to know what foods are most popular in each region to help maximize your key messages and ensure you're appealing to your key audience?
Luckily, Pinterest data team's here to help - they've published two new infographics which highlight food-related subjects that over-index in each region.
The first graphic looks at the U.S., with a breakdown of the most uniquely popular foods in each state (click on image for larger view)
As you can see, there are some interesting trends - including Coca Cola in Arkansas, survival bread in Alaska and, um, 'Puppy Chow' in Wisconsin?
The second infographic is a world view, looking at some of the most popular, unique food ideas in sixteen cities around the globe.
There are some interesting considerations here - and while the insights provided won't be applicable to all brands, there may be a way to incorporate these popular trends into your strategy to boost appeal in specific regions.
And given that two billion searches are conducted on Pinterest every month, tapping into such trends could yield significant results for those looking to maximize their use of the platform.
