On Brand Blindly Blunders Into Twitter Firestorm Inserting Their Promo Into Aurora Trend

Yeah, I think the Twitterer knew the trend wasn't about the dress and was therefore having a little fun with it through the "clearly" line. I do believe had s/he known what it was about, this wouldn't have happened - which is why you gotta do a google search at the very least. Thanks for reading, James!

On Recession to Boost Social Media Spending

Hey Brandon,

Thanks!

And, I definitely agree...the tactics vary a bit. But, I have had much success in social media for B2B and B2C. As Brandon and I were discussing the other day - even a CIO is a consumer!

The channels you use and the approach you take is a bit different. But, bear in mind, different doesn't have to mean stuffy and boring. Look at the viral campaign that Agency Fusion did: http://makemylogobiggercream.com/

Their customers are marketing, graphic design and ad agencies, so that is B2B. But, they found some humor in that business. I'm not saying that kind of approach will translate to every area. But, the fact is just because someone operates in B2B does not mean they check their sense of humor at the door. People are people right?

On Is this the Social Media Election?

HA! Great minds think alike, Brandon. I just blogged about this too.

I think this is absolutely a social media election and brands are getting in on the frenzy as well.

On Hey, have you quit blogging yet?

Hey- I do still blog, but I've also launched a v-log on YouTube: http://ca.youtube.com/SpeakMediaBlog and in the past two months since I launched the channel, I'm already seeing more video bloggers joining the game. It's just faster to create and frankly, let's me reach a new audience while still keeping my older readers. my two cents Jennifer

On When Does Social Media Become Too Risky for Corporate Use?

As is true with everything in life, you get out of it what you put into it. Twitter is a great example -- if you rarely post anything, or only post about what you had for breakfast, I can't imagine it being that useful. But, if you are consistent in topics and tiny urls, you will get a reliable following. I only have about 230 followers on Twitter, but they are nearly all PR/Marketing and social media professionals. Since that's what I blog about, I'd rather have 230 targeted followers than a thousand random people who aren't going to follow my links. Thanks, Jennifer A. Jones (www.speakmediablog.com)
