James - The primary difference between the traditional sales and marketing funnel is the role influencers have on the buying process. Companies now have an opportunity to leverage these influencers so that they become a single sales funnel. Imagine having hundreds of funnels!

On Facebook Deletes Hong Kong Opposition Groups

Zuckerberg and crew needs to change their policies  / protocols on how they treat "abuse" reports - especially around areas of political dissent.

In many areas of the world where free speech is trampled by governments, common people (often youth) use the internet as their only megaphone.

By doing nothing to protect opposing voices, Facebook will take part in extinguishing them.

On 5 Sure-Fire Ways to Operationalize Social Media

Jason - I like your house rules suggestion.

In my somewhat limited experience, these rules of engagement have to give employee a sense that they are trusted and respected. I've seen too many situations where a social media policy (mainly written by the legal council) mutes the voices of potential evangelists.

So, a short handbook might include these chapters:

  1. Chapter one - Why we need each other
  2. Chapter two - Why we trust you
  3. Chapter three - How we use social media
  4. Chapter four - How we'll change the world
