On Have You "Followed" On Facebook?

On What Oracle's Plan To Acquire Eloqua Means For Marketers
Hi Lisa,
Thanks for writing this. I think you're right that marketing is "white hot" both for solution providers and the customers themselves. And a lot of it is because the channels to market through are growing incredible fast rate. Where a business used to be able to focus on SEO, they now need to focus on SEO, PPC, and of course, Social Media. And I don't see an end in sight. We are at a very exciting time in human history where things are being invented and adopted faster than ever before. I'm sure it will be an interesting year in marketing!

On Instagram Stops Allowing Users to Embed Photos in Tweets
From what I can see, not much... i mean, instagram users can still post to twitter, they just won't see it embedded... so they click on the link. Not sure it's a huge deal, but curious what other people think!

On Facebook Glitch Rejoins Groups You Never Wanted to See Again
I agree, I think there should be something in the privacy settings if you want to turn that off, but from what I could see there currently is not.

On Hurricanes, Social Media, and One Lucky Baby
Social media has been huge in this storm. My parents are pretty much stranded on long island with no power, very little access to a phone. It's like a bad game of "telephone"... but with people who do have access to facebook, they are able to get the in person message out to the rest of the world...

On Wow! Twitter Can Tell You When You Are Going to Get Sick.
I agree Nick, it is a little Orwellian, and does give me some cause for concern. You highlighted where this type of research could go if someone with less than good objectives wanted to use it. But I suppose at that point people may not be taking to twitter to broadcast their every move... I think social media will stay social as long as people feel safe using it. The minute they feel they are truly being spied on or that their life could be negatively affected by it, I think people won't be as "social" anymore... Let's hope it never comes to that.

On The Rise of the Social Media Curator
"When you think about the amount of information on the Internet, a social media curator’s job seems impossible. However, everyone practices forms of curation with word-of-mouth suggestions, everyday. We even practice curation with our preferences of which sites we spend our time on."
I'll also add, we even curate our own social streams and e-mail. We prioritize the good stuff and leave the chain letters and photos of LOL cats for a day we have more time.
At MarketMeSuite we've been working hard to help SMBs solve the social curation problem with our new inbox. I'd love your thoughts :)

On Social Media isn’t Magic – It’s about Staying Human on the Internet
Humaness is what makes social media such a desired form of communication. The folks over at @askamex do a great job of humanizing a big corporate brand! Same with @askpaypal

On How to Resolve a Customer’s Problem Efficiently
Yes, trolls can be a bit of a problem. Or the spam bots. As long as you keep a close eye though it generally works really well!
