The ultimate co-creation opportunity: our world
At a minimum it will become (has become already) a public discussion forum hosted by the Government; and it will clearly require prompt and smart moderation as well as readiness from the government team that put it forward to engage in the conversation as appropriate.
Take a quick look at the number of items under some of the categories: Economy (10,909), Education (4,452), Energy and Environment (5,170).
It is also interesting to see what ideas have risen to the top; there may be a need to figure out a better system that distinguishes passion generated by the idea versus assumed level of impact/importance.
What do you think?

I'd like to believe the majority of U.S citizens have the basic same needs and beliefs when it comes to our country.I'm getting the sense that our new president is taking all the people and bringing us back to square one, the day we arrived on this soil, the wants, desires, beliefs, hopes, dreams. We have gone way too far and have to take a step back and remember what it is to be Americans. I feel that he is allowing all of us to be a part of our government again as the way it began. Of course it was smaller and less controversy of the end results, but it was all the people for the people, with one nation under God, yes, I said the 'G' word. I am sorry if that offends anyone, but that IS what this nation was built on and you cant take out the corner stone of a building and expect it to stand.

Nice way to include social tools sending Team Obama off on its 100 day honeymoon. But when the cup is half-full/half-empty people who feel included will be less inclined to feel the pain of limited expectations than those who are not included. Cup half full sort of thing. The key phrase in your post regarding US is "one of the most influential..." There are other nations with stronger national identities, And the US Department of State has already covered its butt with a white paper projecting the decline of US power over the next 50 years. Most Americans don't know what it means to be a "citizen" and they are more interested in talking about what they are doing now with their friends. After reading this post and reflecting, I ask myself whether "co-creation" and "co-dependence" are the same thing, in and outside of social media.
@ENZO One suspects you are french. Perhaps you might want to revisit what french political philosopher Raymond Aron had to say about the social contract between people and government in a nation-state and how a strong national identity matters. And, can you define "reputation democracy" I haven't heard that one before, what is it.

maybe a little thought about why we can be optimistic : usually, governments ask citizens to participate. Problem is that there's not often a transformation into laws, mandates or engagements. This time, many people start talking about reputation democracy, so the ways to instituionalize citizens' thoughts are changing. A good way to impact?
