Do you have any ideas for how social media can better integrate into our lives away from the computer? Colin walker argues we should not be limited to being online and that our goal should be to translate the connections we form on the web into real life connections.

Social media conferences are held around the world, but who is attending them? Should we be attending them? Should we start our own? Colin notes we need to stop discussing how great social media will be in years to come and be active about figuring out how we are going to reach that point.

Alexander van Elsas thinks the old-fashioned TV is the best social media channel known to mankind. And as Hutch Carpenter pointed out, Alexander might be onto something. I left a comment on Colin's blog saying people could watch a TV show, call up a menu on the bottom or side, see who else is watching and zip messages back and forth - kind of like YouTube “also watching now” - more social features could be added as well.

That might satisfy Steve Ballmer, but how about the rest of us? What do we want, what do we need? Steven Hodson is interested in figuring out where these thoughts are coming from, why we are even going down any given path and what effect it will have on us.

I don't know that asking more questions is the answer, but I agree with a lot of other social media enthusiasts, we should be focusing on moving forward. And perhaps we're doing fine, we seem to understand how to get conversations rolling, are we slowly moving away from granular steps to instigate a greater benefit?

What questions are you asking?
