Google+ Cover Photo Size and More
Google is really serious about making Google+ a success. [Yesterday] they made some drastic changes to profiles and pages.
Features are essentially the same but the UI and navigation is all moved around. It looks like this will be for the better and easier to use.
One of the first things you’ll want to look into is updating your profile picture and possibly adding a new cover photo.
The new Google+ cover photo is similar to the Facebook Timeline version but it is a little bigger and the profile picture is on the right. The size you will want in order to maximize the cover photo is 940 pixels x 180 pixels.
If you don’t want to use the new Google+ cover photo, the old style of thumbnail images is also available. The sizes for each thumbnail are approximately 112 pixels x 112 pixels.
The Google Plus profile picture also seems to have grown and it looks to now be approximately 260 pixels x 260 pixels.
Unlike Facebook, at this time there don’t appear to be any strict rules for what brands can put into cover photos or thumbnails. This is a great opportunity to for branding or promotion. I will make some updates if I find more information on this or things change.
