Pinterest is looking to boost content discovery with the addition of a new 'more ideas' tab which will highlight Pins similar to the content that you've previously saved on the platform.
As explained by Pinterest:
"With the “more ideas” tab on each of your boards and sections, you can explore new recommendations inspired by the ideas you’ve already saved. You’ll also see suggestions for new sections you can add to help organize your ideas."
The options are relatively minor, but they will add to content discovery - and with Pinterest constantly improving its search capacity across its 175 billion Pins, its recommendation functions could prove highly valuable, especially as Pinterest gets more and more aligned with related Pin interests.
Pinterest, which recently reached a new milestone of 250 million users, continues to evolve its eCommerce and product discovery tools. It's also able to use smaller variations like this to fine-tune its systems - for every recommendation that's either accepted or rejected, Pinterest's system can learn, improving future matching.
For marketers, it may help to stay on top of rising Pin trends, so that when users do go searching for related content, your Pins show up.
Pinterest's “more ideas” tab and section recommendations are available now to all users - update your app to the latest version to try it out.
