If SocialMediaToday is an online community for the web's best thinkers on social media and Web 2.0, Governing People is for advocates of smart, efficient, and transparent government--and Government 2.0.
The sister communities--with My Venture Pad, the Smart Data Collective, the Wealth Managers League, and others hyperlinked in the bottom right corner of this page--seek to establish purpose-built aggregated outlets for niche bloggers and provide a means for anyone to participate through comments, retweets, stumbles, and diggs.
Built and opened for public consumption and review in March 2009, Governing People is quickly becoming a must-read online companion for thought leaders at Microsoft, IBM, and the federal government. Its contributing bloggers and commenters include many members of the GovLoop social networking site, and its posts are frequently retweeted by the GovTwit network.
During the second week of September, hundreds of government managers, consultants, and integrators will descend into the nation's capital for the debut of a one-day Gov 2.0 Expo Showcase and a two-day Gov 2.0 Summit. Co-produced by O'Reilly Media and Techweb, companies will exhibit their wares to assist government functions, and both panels and keynotes are scheduled all week.
Governing People will also be in Washington, D.C. to officially launch out of beta (which it entered in March) and be shared with a myriad of government professionals and practitioners. We are convening a free luncheon panel on September 8--during the scheduled lunch break of the Expo Showcase and inside the DC Convention Center. If you're in DC on September 8, perhaps you'd like to attend and mingle with fellow bloggers and social media evangelists?
For details on the panelists and information about what will be discussed, please fill out this form so we can provide you lunch and keep you apprised of Governing People news.
