Spotted via Israeli newspaper Haaretz, comes this pretty unique advertising concept. You fork out 30 euros (US$40 / £27), and a Palestinian with a spray can will go along to the separation fence (wall) that Israel has built in the West Bank and graffiti on the message of your choice on there.
In addition to remaining on the wall, your slogan then gets sent to you as a photo, to either keep or upload onto a website.
The idea is the brainchild of a group of Dutch advertising executives from the Palo-Dutch Concept Factory, who held a series of advertising workshops with young Palestinians in Ramallah. They then set up the website sendamessage.nl, with a dozen Palestinians acting as the 'creatives.'
Quoted in Haaretz, the project's Palestinian coordinator, Faris Arouri, says the work is usually done by teams of three student volunteers. One does the spraying, another takes pictures and the third makes sure the slogan meets the client's specifications.
Justus van Oel who runs the Dutch end of the project approves all messages and edits out hateful content: "Payment is in advance and defamers get no refunds." However at the end of the day, the website says that the graffiti artists wanted to send out a simple message: "Palestinians are human beings, just like anyone, with a sense of humor and a lust for life."
Once site costs have been covered, the money for the project is given to NGOs who are currently funding a basketball court, student laundry service and cinema system in Bir Zeit, near Ramallah.
