- I've
changed the permissions to prohibit anonymous comments by anybody except
admins. Now if you're not logged
in, you just see the word Comments at the bottom of the post, followed by
any comments that have been posted, with no explanation. Is it possible to add a statement that you must be logged in to leave a comment?
- Jerry and I would like to change the SMT Featured Bloggers module so that it displays
only X number of names at a time - with X = 20 or 25 (ideally we should be
able to change the number X). These bloggers would be selected
dynamically from the Most Read Authors statistics at any given time. (Or, if it's easier, they could be
selected once daily (or even weekly) and not change until the following update.) There would also be a link reading "All
SMT Bloggers" which would lead to an alphabetical blogroll of the entire
list. Is this possible?
- The Work
History in my profile is still not in the correct, reverse-chron order. Any progress on fixing that?
- I've
altered the My Profile parameters on SMT to include a prominent field for
a link labeled "Your Blog or
Website." Based on my
experiments with the profiles of various alter egos, the field will not show up for
current members unless and until they edit their Work Focus profile, but
it will be available to all new members when they fill out their profile. When we're ready, we can notify bloggers
and others through the newsletter that they should add their blog or
website to the profile. After that
and after resolving #2 above, we can change the Featured Blogger links to
target their profile rather than their outside blog directly.
- I made
some other tweaks to the profile labels for clarity. Question:
What is the purpose of the Marketing
Info field? The choices are
only Subscribed or Not Subscribed, and most people leave it as the default
Not Subscribed because there's no way to know what it means. We should either clarify or omit this
field.
- Have we determined whether it is possible to change the default so that clicking on a person's name takes you to their Posts page rather than to their Profile page? Whether or not we decide to do that, I'd like to make it much more clear that there are two different pages - it took me a long time to realize that, because the navigation in the grey bar is not obtrusive enough. Could we add a simple text link on the Profile [and Posts] page that just says "Click here for posts [personal information]? Actually, if I could have exactly what I want, it would be: "Click here for Craig Cmehil's most recent posts" and "Click here for Craig Cmehil's personal information". But the personalization isn't essential, and not worth the trouble unless it can be done dynamically.
