From Comscore, Twitter now has 9.3 million US users, a growth of 131% in one month.
Worldwide figures are out at the end of the month, but based on this, a good guess is of a global user base of 20+ million.
Facebook no.1 in 11/17 European countries
At the same time, Comscore released research showing that the ubiquitous Facebook is now the top social network in 11/17 European countries, with a user base of 100 million - 22.6 million of which were in the UK.
In addition to Central and Eastern Europe, where local language Facebook clones still dominate (for example Nasza Klasa in Poland and Odnoklassniki in Russia), Germany stands out as a market where Facebook isn't in pole position. Instead, StudiVZ leads.
The key stat: Facebook now has 30.4% of all European social network minutes. A year ago, it was 12.3%. It also now commands close to 1 in 20 (4.1%) of all European Internet minutes.
