While it may not be surprising to some that Google+ is still merely regarded as the dark horse of social networking platforms, discounting it as a viable frontrunner channel for social media marketing activities is rather unwise. And as we are starting to witness, more and more businesses are beginning to acknowledge the tremendous potential of Google+.
As I wrote last year in a social media post about Yoda, the future always brings about change. And in the case of Google+, change is now. With businesses starting to embrace the SoLoMo (Social Local Mobile) approach to revolutionizing their marketing strategies, a shift in attitude surrounding the tech juggernaut's position in social media is occurring. Ever-increasing expectations of consumers have led to the call for more consumer-focused and personally engaging business interactions. This is where the SoLoMo model steps in to help businesses micro-target consumers and deliver a contextually-significant user experience.
So let us take a more in-depth look at how Google+ may emerge as the undisputed conqueror of the SoLoMo space.
Unparalleled Database Strength and Variety
When it comes to pure depth and diversity of information on local listings, Google simply has no rival. This is where Google+ can capitalize on giving businesses better connectivity and accurate results to focus their marketing efforts on.
Ubiquity on Both the Global and Local Fronts
While local services like Yelp and Foursquare may deliver strong results in the short run, the truth is that Google+ is the only platform to actually facilitate a ubiquitous marketing experience.
It posses all the information and resources businesses need to execute an equally competent global and location-centric marketing campaign.
Riding the Swelling Tides of the Smartphone Revolution
Smartphones are quickly transitioning into becoming the ultimate hub for all your communication and entertainment needs. With the massive adoption of Android smartphones worldwide, we have automatically enrolled ourselves as walking data banks for businesses.
It perfectly positions all Android users to tap into the Google+ world and enjoy a truly informed and personalized business experience catering precisely to their personal lifestyles. Hence, businesses will now be able to design an intelligent and contextual marketing campaign that appeals the most to users living in different parts of the world.
Granted, this is all mere conjecture, but in my opinion we are going to see Google and its pet social media project G+ play a larger and larger role in strategic online marketing. Agree or disagree? Let me know why in the comments!
