TikTok is returning as the official platform partner for the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival, while the platform will also serve as presenting partner for the Special Presentations program at this year’s event.

The partnership will see TikTok bring a selection of creators to TIFF. These creators will host premiere screenings and co-host several post-screening Q&A sessions.
TikTok will also host a special event with actors Caleb Hearon and Zooey Deschanel on Sept. 12, where the duo will discuss their new film “Trash Mountain.” The pair will also talk about how audiences discover stories in the modern age.
As per TikTok: “Every day, creators and film fans come to TikTok to discover new voices, share their perspectives and build communities around the stories they love. Over the past year, 12M+ posts about Film & TV were published everyday globally and 35% of TikTok users say content on the platform gives them the confidence to try a new movie or show.”
As with all elements of entertainment, TikTok has become a key promotional driver. Previous research showed that 47% of TikTok users have discovered a new movie via the app.
As such, the partnership with TIFF makes a lot of sense and will help to promote TikTok with the film fan community, while also enhancing the app’s brand presence with the next generation of creatives.
TikTok first became an official platform partner for the festival in 2024, and has continued to evolve and improve its integration with the event. This latest iteration will see the platform bring its largest contingent of creators to TIFF thus far as the platform continues to solidify its role as a key connector for entertainment brands.
