X has refreshed its video upload and posting process once again, with this latest update providing a more focused layout, and editable captions, which can be refined using the app’s Grok-powered artificial intelligence tools.

According to X developer Allegra Jacchia, the platform’s new video editor is cleaner, more intuitive and much easier to use.
The main focus of the update is the improved captioning process, which lets creators manually edit captions in the composer, or ask Grok to correct them. It also allows Grok to translate captions into another language.
X rolled out a major update to its video editor in July, which included additional multi-language caption tools and green screen recording.

The app also added new video overlays in August, and more recently, it expanded its livestream hosting options in order to better facilitate live broadcasts.
The new editor adds to the platform’s expanding video focus and will put more specific focus on the various in-stream tools and functions available for video editing. That could help creators create more interesting, engaging video content.
Which is important, because like all platforms, X is working to incentivize original content creators. Having native creation tools like this will enable posters to share more original content so they don’t have to repurpose clips they’ve already edited and uploaded to other apps.
X has seen a steady rise in video engagement over the past few years. However, the app has apparently stopped referring to itself as a video-first platform, which was a tagline it tried out in 2024.
