X will now share more insight into post impacts due to adherence to local laws, as part of an expansion of its user performance insights.
Last month, X launched its Under the Hood update, which provided more insight into how the platform’s source code functions. At the same time, the company also released a new, simplified reporting function that enables X users to view any penalties or restrictions that have been applied to their posts or accounts.
Now, X is expanding on this, with more insights into potential restrictions that could impact post and profile reach.
As explained by X: “We’ve expanded Under The Hood after seeing people’s appreciation of more transparency into government-required content filtering. In addition to showing labels applied to your account and posts in the prior month, Under The Hood now shows if your account or posts had their visibility limited because of required compliance with local law(s). For example, you can see if any of your posts were withheld in a country following a legal demand — and which country.”
The expanded data insights should help to address concerns around shadowbans, and provide more insights into X post reach and performance, which could be particularly valuable to users in X’s creator monetization program.
Though it could be of interest to everyone on the platform, as it provides direct notes on any labels that have been tagged to an account, some of which may have resulted in reach penalties.
X said this new insight will be available for all accounts that are at least one year old and have posted more than 10 times in the previous month.
